
5th grade students have been writing monologues based on a character's reaction to an event in their novel "Esperanza Rising." Over the next few days, they are performing their monologues with their group and have even created a program that includes the cast and Director's Note!







The Mokena Meteors had their first concert of the year tonight. Our musicians did a great job!

MES 2nd and 3rd graders had a visit from the LWSRA yesterday! They learned all about what it's like to be in a wheelchair and played a variety of games such as goal ball, wheelchair basketball, and sit volleyball. Thank you, LWSRA!

Third grade students are working in groups to record an audiobook to assess reading fluency. As a step in the process, students worked in pairs to practice their excerpt and provide a peer critique with feedback related to the fluency criteria they generated as a class!




Ms. Lagunas' second graders are currently working and learning about fossils in our reading curriculum. Students are loving it so much they are checking out dinosaur books!

As third grade students wrap up their ELA module about learning challenges near and far, they are working together to identify strategies to overcome reading challenges in their grade level. Each student will write an informational essay on strategies they can use to overcome personal reading challenges they might have this school year.
