MES Student Council boxed up all kinds of supplies for foster kids & teens in Will and Grundy County. They were able to pack a van full of socks, games, coloring books, art supplies, lotions, chapsticks, diapers & more! Thank you to our amazing MES families for their generosity!
6th grade students are learning to analyze dialogue and narration to interpret characters and determine an author's point of view. Today, they used this learning to "act out" a section of their text as a way to deepen their awareness of how dialogue and narration work together.
2nd graders in Ms. Matt's and Ms. Lagunas' classes had their 50 States Celebration last week! Students dressed up as their chosen state, conducted research to create posters, and took visitors through a variety of activities!

Today MIS students participated in a live author presentation through Storyvoice. They heard from author Gordan Korman and heard an excerpt from his newest book is Mixed Up. Thank you to MIS librarian, Ms. Spasojevic, for organizing this for our students!

Congratulations to Autumn Chlebek! Her unique design was selected for the 8th grade class t-shirt. The Mokena PTA generously pays for the t-shirts so that every student can have one and feel like part of the 8th grade team!
Our 8th Grade STEM course is cultivating future electrical engineers! These students are working hard to use integrated circuit chips connected to breadboards to digitally control a motor's spin rate and direction.
1st graders took a trip into space this week by visiting the StarLab at MES! This experience supported the learning in their ELA module: The Sun, Moon, and Stars. It was out of this world!
On Friday, November 17, MES celebrated Kindness Day and wore pink in honor of Addy, a first grader who passed away earlier this year! Classes worked on notes to pass out to friends and family to express kindness and gratitude and talked about how to spread kindness.

Veterans Day assemblies last Friday at MES welcomed in 100 veterans and their guests! The flags that lined the walkway represent our veterans who couldn’t attend or are no longer with us. The flags were donated by mokena lions club!
