The Mokena Jr. High girls volleyball teams have been working hard all season long and are heading into the home stretch of their seasons.
The seventh grade girls volleyball team holds a record of 3-4 and is the fifth seed in the upcoming Des Plaines Valley Conference (DPVC) tournament. The seventh graders will face Martino Jr. High in the first round on Tuesday, February 13. The matches will begin at approximately 5:15 pm in the small gym at Summit Hill Jr. High.
Coach Jenna Enns said of the team: "The seventh grade volleyball team has been fighting strong all season, with most games going to 3 sets! This team won the Round Robin Tournament earlier this season and we are hoping they can do it again!” The team won the Summit Hill Invitational held the weekend of January 25.
The eighth grade girls volleyball team is the sixth seed in the DPVC tournament, with a record of 2-5. The team will face Liberty Jr. High in the first round on Tuesday, February 13. Matches will be held in the small gym at Summit Hill Jr. High at approximately 6:30 pm.
“The eighth grade team has shown a massive amount of improvement throughout the season. They are a challenging competitor that should not be overlooked. We are excited to see them face off tomorrow in the DPVC Tournament!,” Coach Enns said.
After conference play the girls volleyball teams will play in the regional tournament. Regionals will be held at Michelle Obama School of Technology and the Arts in Park Forest. Seventh grade play will begin Saturday February 24th, and 8th grade play will begin Saturday March 2nd. Good luck, ladies!
